Pentest
We were tasked in performing a pentest at a company, but it didn't go the way we planned it. We had a lot of meeting over the phone and one meeting face-to-face talk about the assignment and read over the concept project definition. After discussing a few things we wanted to change from our end we agreed to the project definition and planned a date. When nearing the date a new lockdown began and the people we worked with didn't want us to physically come to the company. We agreed to work remotely, but after a week they called to tell us they didn't want that anymore because the product owner didn't want to do the pentest anymore due to Corona. They told us they might have a new assignment that we would be able to do this semester. But tragedy struck and Log4J hit. We already felt that they were going to call us again to cancel due to Log4J, and not so much later they did. They were too busy handling the Log4J incident that they couldn't spare any more time on our pentest. They proposed that we could do the pentest in a few months but that wouldn't work for us because our semester would be over be then.
We were really stoked and hoping to do a proper pentest this semester, but with all these delays and cancellation we've wasted our time and there wasn't enough to go to the whole process again because it had taken us months. At least we learned some communication skills and gained some experience in reading and proposing changes in project definitions.
